N'KIRA cosmetics
N'KIRA, the beauty revealed by our forests?
Le projet
Africa is the most unequal continent; 60% of the population lives on less than $ 4 a day and the number of poor people continues to grow.
N'KIRA is an inclusive development project that creates its products from raw materials supplied by the people of the hinterland.
N'KIRA gives these marginal partners the opportunity to increase their income, and thus contributes to human development in rural areas.
The particularly intense woods exploitation, in Africa has reduced the plant cover by 7% over the past 12 years.
N'KIRA wants to promote a low-impact woods exploitation by promoting non-timber forest products. "We better protect what we know the value".
This is why N'KIRA aims to reveal through its products, the best of these forest species.
The Gabonese traditional medicine is rich but remain unknown.
N'KIRA wishes to share through its products, ancestral knowledge in order to enrich modern cosmetics.
Scientific research in Africa remains marginal.
N'KIRA brought together traditional therapists, botanists, physiologists, biochemists, environmental chemists, doctors and pharmacists
to develop products that respect nature and body.

I am lecturer in Gabon, I’m PhD in Neurophysiology from Rouen University since 2011.
My experience at National School of Water and Forests lead me to develop the idea of exploiting the forest sustainably while producing foreign currency. The idea of cosmetics came to me by observing bloggers "Nappy" who were looking for local solutions to manage their natural hair.
This project aims also to offer new opportunities to students in biology, biochemistry in Gabon including formulation, cosmetology etc ...
Budget
We want to buy small equipment to expand our range of products by offering soaps, creams, balms and shampoos.
- a filtering machine (1560 euros). It will reduce our production time. Indeed the method used so far allows us to filter only 2.5 L in 48h.
- a second hand mixer (3200 euros) for the preparation of soaps and creams.
